Spring! The very word conjures up images of rebirth, lengthening days, emerging blossoms and greenery, and the smell of freshness. The Earth is increasing its tilt toward the Sun and the length of daylight increases. Warm air begins on occasions to invade causing new plant growth to "spring forth".

Snow begins to melt and streams swell with runoff. Frosts become less severe and many plants bloom in a long succession sometimes beginning even if snow is still on the ground.
